The heart is the motor of our body and often the least we care. We must keep our heart as healthy as possible, we have the age we have to be able to enjoy life to the fullest.
Caring for the heart could almost be summarized as a healthy and balanced life, but we wanted to break down some healthy habits that will help you in your day to day life.
1. Respect the hours of sleep
Your body needs to rest and regain strength. It would be great if you could sleep for eight hours a day, something that is almost impossible due to the pace of life we lead. Be aware of the actual hours you rest and try to increase them little by little until you reach at least 7h.
2. Active life
Go for a walk, practice some sport, go up the stairs instead of taking the elevator … Avoid by all means sedentary lifestyle. Physical activity helps keep the heart healthy and fit. With only 30 minutes a day doing the activity that you like, are enough to strengthen your heart.
3. Say goodbye to tobacco and moderate alcohol consumption
Get rid of habits that are not healthy like tobacco and control alcohol consumption. Both smoking and being a passive smoker is harmful to the heart and abusing alcohol can increase blood pressure.
4. Take care of your diet
We have always heard the expression “We are what we eat” and it is true. Therefore, you must maintain a healthy, varied and balanced diet. In addition, we will share with you foods that help especially to keep your heart healthy:
Apples: help prevent clots in the blood. They are rich in vitamins and fiber.
Green leafy vegetables: Rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber.
Oats: Helps reduce cholesterol and helps keep the digestive system healthy.
Salmon: Source of omega 3 fatty acids that help protect the heart. In addition, it helps maintain cholesterol at favorable levels.
Tomatoes: They are full of vitamins. It helps reduce the risk of heart disease.
Nuts: Helps maintain cholesterol levels.
5. Be happy!
There is nothing healthier than a “happy heart”. Negative emotions can play tricks on us, they can often increase blood pressure and cause heart failure. Therefore, we must take care of our mind as much as our body, learn to enjoy life, relax and use your free time in things that you like.
